TN moves SC against President's refusal

UNCONSTITUTIONAL | The state argues that the refusal to sign the state's bill is unconstitutional and against federal principles
Tamil Nadu has taken a decisive step by filing a petition in the Supreme Court, challenging the President's refusal to grant assent to the Tamil Nadu Admission to Undergraduate Medical Degree Courses Bill, 2021.
The legislation seeks to exempt the state from the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for medical admissions, a move that has sparked considerable legal and constitutional debate.
The petition, filed on November 15, 2025, represents the state’s strong opposition to the President's decision to withhold assent, which has been described as creating a "grave constitutional impasse."
