Maharashtra government grants administrative approval to PCMC’s ₹526 crore project
The Maharashtra government has granted administrative approval to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's (PCMC) Indrayani River revitalisation project worth Rs526 crore.
The ambitious project, expected to be completed within two years, aims to rejuvenate the river that flows through the pilgrimage towns of Alandi and Dehu in Pune district.
Originating from Kurwande village in Maval taluka, the Indrayani River flows through Dehugaon and Alandi before joining the Bhima River, which later merges with the Mula-Mutha and continues towards Pandharpur via the Ujani Dam. Within the PCMC limits, the river runs for 18.8km, where it receives untreated waste from multiple drains and streams, severely degrading its quality.
