Mamata refuses to heed EC's direction on officers for poll list violations

A day after the Election Commission of India (ECI) ordered the suspension of five West Bengal Government officials over alleged voter list manipulation, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a fierce counterattack on Wednesday and vowed to defend her officers "at all cost".
Speaking at a public meeting in Jhargram during her second "Bhasha Andolan" (language movement) march, Banerjee accused the ECI of acting under the influence of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and vowed to protect her officers at all costs.
