Drug blast killer's jail term will not increase
The Chronicle
|June 24, 2025
KILLER drug dealer Reece Galbraith will not be locked up for longer for causing an explosion that claimed the life of a seven-year-old boy.
The 33-year-old was jailed for 14 years last month after admitting manslaughter in connection with the explosion that claimed the life of Archie York. His jail term was referred to the Attorney General's Office Unduly Lenient Sentence Scheme (ULS) for being too short.
However, it has now been confirmed Galbraith’s case will not be sent to the Court of Appeal for his sentence to be reconsidered, and the punishment handed to the killer by a judge at Newcastle Crown Court still stands.
