Football club plans new padel courts
The Chester Chronicle
|May 08, 2025
PLANS have been lodged to build a new sports facility with padel and pickleball courts on a section of the Chester FC car park and unused grassland.
The development would also include a central hub containing changing rooms, toilets, a reception and cafe.
It is proposed to reopen a currently blocked-off access route onto the site which is independent to the main football club car park entrance.
The site is to be enclosed by security fencing with a walkway around the courts.
Padel is a popular and growing racquet sport, often referred to as a hybrid of tennis and squash which is played on an enclosed court with walls.
Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong.
Pick Padel Ltd are behind the planning application which has been submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council.
The proposed facility, featuring four double padel courts, one single padel court and three pickleball courts, would be located to the west of Sovereign Way and north west of the football stadium.
