Chhau Festival 2025 begins with folk dance competitions

Rajkiva Parva cum Chhau Mahotsav 2025 has commenced in Seraikela district with traditional rituals and rural Chhau dance competitions although the official festivities began on the evening of April 11 and continue until April 13, the ceremonial start took place earlier with a sacred Chhau Yatra.
This traditional procession began at Majna Ghat on the banks of the Kharkai River and concluded at the ancient Shani temple near Gudri Daily market. The festival began spiritually on April 6 with Bhairav Puja. According to Sunil-Divisional Officer-in-charge Seraikela Nayagarh, rural Chhau dance competitions in the three classical styles Seraikela, Kharsawan and Manbhum-are scheduled for April 7, 8 and 9, respectively. The main cultural programs will take place from April 11 to 13.
