No gunfire was heard, nor was a missile fired, but the BRP Miguel Malvar descended to ocean floor after taking on water while being towed to a designated location approximately 30 nautical miles west of San Antonio town at around 7:20 a.m.

"No personnel were injured," said Lt. Col. John Paul Salgado, chief of Balikatan Exercises' combined joint information bureau.

According to the AFP, the former BRP Miguel Malvar underwent environmental cleaning and preparation for the maritime strike prior to being towed to the operational area.
