In a move that signals the growing importance of cyber expertise in global espionage, Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the appointment of Blaise Metreweli as the next chief of the UK's Secret Intelligence Service, MI6.

Currently serving as the agency's Director of Technology and Innovation, Metreweli, 47, will become the first woman to lead MI6 in its 116-year history.
