Ultimate World Cup road trip guide: epic scenic drives between matches

Over the coming weeks, millions of football fans will descend on stadiums in Canada, Mexico, the US and their host cities, creating one of the biggest sporting spectacles on the planet.

However, travelling to the World Cup is about more than just attending matches. It is also the perfect opportunity to explore some of the continent's most spectacular landscapes, vibrant cities and hidden gems.

Whether you're chasing coastal views, mountain scenery, cultural landmarks or culinary adventures, a road trip between fixtures can turn your football holiday into an unforgettable journey.

New research from Travel Guard analysed 48 road trip routes across all 16 Fifa World Cup host cities.

Here are some of the best road trips football fans can enjoy between matches.

For travellers heading to Miami, the drive north to Orlando along Florida's Atlantic coastline offers a refreshing alternative to the state's busy inland motorways.

Instead of endless highways, motorists are treated to charming beach towns, ocean vistas and fascinating attractions.

Portions of the iconic A1A coastal road wind past pristine beaches, including Blind Creek Park and Sebastian Inlet State Park.

One of the biggest highlights is the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, where visitors can explore the history of American space travel, view launch pads and potentially witness a rocket launch.

Along the route, travellers can also stop at the Brevard Zoo, known for its kayaking and ziplining experiences, or enjoy the tranquillity of the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach.
