MARION McMULLEN LOOKS AT THE MODEL LIFE OF JERRY HALL AS SHE TURNS 70

- MARION McMULLEN

WHO'S THAT GIRL?

“WHEN I was younger, I was a sucker for smooth men,” Jerry Hall once revealed.

“Bryan Ferry hired me at 19 to be painted blue and dress up as a mermaid for the front cover of his album Siren.

“It was love at first sight.”

The supermodel has been seen on the arms of some of the world’s most famous men during her career, but claimed she was no beauty when she was growing up in Texas.

“I was 5ft 10ins when I was 14, skinny, flat, with huge feet and I never had a boyfriend.”

The face that has graced magazine covers all over the world turns 70 on July 2. One of five sisters - Jerry has a twin sister called Terry - her mother and sisters were all crazy about glamour and Hollywood movies and her own style role models were Veronica Lake and Marlene Dietrich.

Jerry's mother worked as a medical records librarian and used to sew clothes for her daughters when they were growing up.

“I'm the younger of twins and we're the youngest of five girls and we've always been very close,” said Jerry. “We were pretty much a gang.
