That's what happened 48 years ago when the then Aberdeen, Celtic and Dundee United bosses and United coach helped form the Managers and Coaches Scotland association.
Now, Billy Brown is the man holding the fort as chairman of the group.
And he insists that the strength of unity is as important now as it was almost five decades ago when the group was founded by some of Scottish football's greatest masterminds.
