Campaigners call on Government to publish consultation

CAMPAIGNERS are calling for the Government to publish its consultation into imposing tougher crossbow ownership controls.

The lethal weapons have been used in a series of sickening attacks, including by Kyle Clifford to murder his former girlfriend Louise Hunt, 25, her sister Hannah, 28 and their mother Carol, 61, the wife of BBC racing commentator John Hunt, at their home in Bushey, Hertfordshire, last July.

lar to that used for firearms. In recent months crossbows have continued to be used by criminals for assault, with a man in his 30s taken to hospital last month after being injured by a bolt in Wellington, Somerset.

Armed police also swarmed Chippenham Golf Club following reports of a man with a crossbow and earlier in June bolts were fired at a house in Kirkby, Liverpool.
