New swimming pool and library to open in town

A NEW community centre predicted to benefit a Stockport town “for generations” is set to open in 2026.
Marple Community Hub will bring a raft of ‘state-of-the-art’ facilities for residents to enjoy, including a five-lane swimming pool, a new library, and a new home for Marple Clinic.
Work on the £20m project started on April 26 at the new site based in Marple’s Memorial Park.
The town lost its former swimming pool in 2018 with the closure of Marple Baths, which was in need of urgent repairs which reportedly would have cost nearly £3 million to complete.
