Teen distiller is awarded employee prize

Stirling Distillery’s 19-year-old distiller Hugo McCann has been awarded Employee of the Year at the Scotsman Scran Awards, which recognise exceptional individuals in Scotland's food and drink industry.

In a ceremony attended by industry leaders across Scotland, Hugo was acknowledged for his dedication, skill, and passion. Despite his youth, Hugo has already made a remarkable impact by reviving whisky production in Stirling-the first since 1852-and overseeing the creation of the distillery’s new-make spirit, which went on to win Best Scottish New Make Whisky at the World Whiskies Awards 2025.
