Schools won't join up until 2030
South Wales Evening Post

PLANS to build a new state-of-the-art primary school to improve education for pupils in Blaenymaes and Portmead have taken another step forward - but with one big change following feedback from staff, pupils and parents.
Swansea Council is planning to build a brand new school with hugely improved indoor and outdoor facilities, a part-time nursery and Flying Start provision as well as a Specialist Teaching Facility for those pupils that need additional support, to serve both communities.
The plan is for it to open in 2031.
As part of the process a consultation took place earlier this year on amalgamating both schools in 2027 and creating one governing body with one head teacher.
On Thursday the council's cabinet has approved publishing a statutory notice to amalgamate both schools but not until 2030, just one year before the new school is due to open.
