"To be honest, forget about the friendly games we played in the Netherlands and let us focus on the Toyota Cup final against Asante Kotoko SC. I think the boys are 75% ready for the season ahead because they really played well despite the loss. We played very well in the first half and even got to show off our beautiful home and away jerseys.

He would've missed all of them

Saddam Maake - Kaizer Chiefs supporter

People need to understand that this Toyota Cup is about us showing appreciation to African countries who helped us get the freedom and democracy we are enjoying today. We used to do the same, back in the day, with the Vodacom Challenge and the main thing is to maintain relationships not just to win the trophy. When you invite people to a feast, you don't dictate to them how they must eat the food. They will eat as much as they want to.

Having said that, I was really impressed with what I saw from (Nkanyiso) Shinga and (Thabiso) Monyane because they really looked the part.

I must also mention the McCarthy boy (Aiden) because he also played well. I think we are good to go and there is not much that still needs to be done, which is why I said we are 75% ready. If it is not your day, it is not your day and that's exactly what happened in that final. We could've given our captain, Inacio Miguel, 10 penalties and he would've missed all of them because it was just not his day! Otherwise, we would have finished that game off in 90 minutes. I saw something promising from our team and our stove is on number three and getting closer to six. If we can just fix our goalkeeping department then I would be happy because there is not enough competition there.

The Chairman and CEO never panicked!

Siwelele FC had a rather difficult start to the 2025/26 season. The club was established in 2025 after the purchase of SuperSport United’s PSL status and was renamed Siwelele FC. To make matters worse, Siwelele suffered six defeats in their first 10 league games. Yet, the club kept faith in coach Lehlohonolo Seema. After all, the man has been around the block, and with over a decade in the dugout, he’s capable of doing the job. In this interview with Tiyani wa ka Mabasa, Seema opens up about stabilising the team and also looks back on the season.
