Shields Gazette
|February 13, 2026
Plans for a new three-bedroom house in multiple occupation (HMO) in South Shields have been blocked by borough councillors.

Both Cllr Kate Owens-Palmer and Cllr Paul Brenen spoke up against the number of HMOs in the area.
South Tyneside Council's Planning Committee, refused an application for 115 Imeary Street in the town's Westoe ward.
