Cosier than a night in by the fire with a cup of cocoa and a bestseller and comfier than a DFS sofa, British sitcom Second Thoughts is back on our TV screens courtesy of Rewind.
Written by husband and wife Jan Etherington and Gavin Petrie and based on their experience of second-time-around marriages, it was originally written for radio.
Second Thoughts follows the lives of two middle-aged divorcees, Bill MacGregor and Faith Greyshott, from different backgrounds trying to develop a relationship, despite the pressures pulling it apart - Faith's two teenage children and Bill's devious ex-wife Liza.
It ran for five series and was broadcast on ITV from 1991 to 1994 and was deliberately, defiantly middle class - sofas instead of settees, bistros and not greasy spoons and Frascati - it would be prosecco now - was the tipple of choice.
Tea is drunk from mugs - hung on tree mugs - and not saucers, the fridge is well-stocked and the aisles of Waitrose and M&S well-trodden.
It thumbs its snobby nose at The Young Ones, Bottom, Men Behaving Badly, Porridge and Only Fools and Horses - my favourite TV programme.
