Cobblers! King kicks archaic 'never wear brown in town' shoes rule into touch

THE KING has trampled on a 200-year-old fashion faux pas, by regularly matching brown shoes with suits.

Since Victorian times, gentlemen have been told "never wear brown in town".

Social etiquette dictated smart black shoes were the only option when wearing a suit with a shirt and tie.

Brown was a no-no, as it was regarded as a colour for countryside pursuits.

But Charles seems to have stamped out the stigma since being crowned.

The monarch, 76, has been seen pairing brown footwear with suits on many occasions, including while out and about in cities.
