RUSSELL MARTIN paid the price for Rangers' wretched start to the season but Joe Rothwell claims the real responsibility for the results that got their manager axed lies with the squad.
The club's owners decided they could take no more after watching the lumbering Light Blues slip up yet again on Sunday, drawing 1-1 at Falkirk.
Rothwell spoke to the media just hours before the club announced Martin's departure.
And in that interview, the midfielder was asked if the players felt responsible for the mess Gers now find themselves in. "Massively," he replied.
