Night of freezing fear as Putin's drones hit

AN overnight attack on the Ukrainian capital left four dead, dozens hospitalised and half a million homes without light, heat or even water, as temperatures dip well into the double digits below zero.

Mayor Vitaly Klitschko has called on citizens who could leave the city for alternative accommodation to do so. Even the country’s parliament building was without water or heat.

More than 240 drones and 36 missiles pummelled the city in the dead of Thursday night into yesterday morning as people hunkered down in flats, afraid to venture out through the icy streets to reach bomb shelters.

Terrorised

Photos of damaged or flaming tower blocks, and streets below littered with fallen debris and unexploded ordinance, flooded social media well into yesterday.
