Following her top-scoring rumba last week, Alex Kingston on preventing blisters, avoiding social media and her 'very comfortable' relationship with Johannes Radebe

Alex’s approach towards each dance has been to “feel the music” before learning a single step, something she’s encouraged him to do.

Johannes admits this has been an eyeopener. “You learn something new with different people don’t you,” he says, as she smiles fondly at him.

“Alex said to me in the beginning, ‘I just want us to play the music and dance it out and just feel it’ and I haven’t had something like that before. I’m very matter of fact. ‘Where are we? What’s the count?

“And this has really helped me to see things from a different perspective. It’s wonderful when you can just detach and just lose yourself in the music and then start with the process.”

Alex interjects: “I should say that I’m not sure Johannes has ever had a partner like me because, as an actor, I’m just all in. I’m not embarrassed about being physical or emotional or anything, and I’m so comfortable with Johannes.”

The duo’s close physical and emotional connection has even surprised Alex’s husband of 10 years, television producer Jonathan Stamp, who has commented on it in phone calls to the star. Jonathan is Alex’s third husband. She was previously married to three-times Oscar nominee and Schindler’s List star Ralph Fiennes, 62, from 1993 until 1997, and journalist and writer Florian Haertel, the father of her daughter Salome, 24, from 1998 until 2013.

She and Jonathan tied the knot in a romantic Italian ceremony at the All Saints Anglican Church in Rome in July 2015.
