John Major blasted after call to rejoin customs union

FORMER Prime Minister Sir John Major has sparked fury after calling for Britain to rejoin the EU customs union and the single market.
The former Conservative leader called the benefits of Brexit as “elusive as Lord Lucan” during a speech.
Sir John who fought fierce battles with Tory eurosceptics when in power said: “The only Brexit ‘freedom’ I’ve yet seen is the freedom to be poorer.”
