Larry Cutler (Barry Primus) chokes to death on a pretzel at a gender reveal party for his grandchild and regains consciousness as his younger self (Miles Teller) on a train as it pulls into The Junction.

Sassy afterlife coordinator Anna (Da'Vine Joy Randolph) shepherds Larry through the process: he has seven days to decide where to spend eternity, and with whom. His terminally ill wife materialises as her younger self (Elizabeth Olsen) soon after, but their tearful reunion is interrupted by rival afterlife coordinator Ryan (John Early). His client is Joan's dreamy first husband Luke (Callum Turner), who died in the Korean War and has been waiting all these years for a second chance at love.
