Extra charges for passengers who don’t fit in a seat

SOUTHWEST Airlines, a flight company based in Dallas, in the US, has announced that plus-size travellers will have to pay extra for seats if they cannot fit comfortably in one seat.
This change to their “customer of size” policy will start on January 27, 2026.
On its official website, the airline said that customers who “take up space in the neighbouring seats” are encouraged to buy the right number of seats in advance. This is to make sure there are enough seats available for those who need them on their chosen flights.
