Peters runs the rule over Boro new boys
Rossendale Free Press
|July 11, 2025
BACUP Borough continued their preseason preparations with games against a Rossendale FC 2nd XI on Saturday, followed by a trip to New Mills FC on Tuesday evening.
The fixtures offered the perfect opportunity for Brent Peters to take a closer look at his squad, especially the new arrivals who have joined the club during the close season.
Peters and his management team are working on a few ideas for the start of the 2025/26 campaign, one of those is to give the players much more ownership on the pitch, allowing them to be proactive and responsive to things that are happening.
In defence, new signing Tyler Williams looked confident and assured on the ball, and on several occasions happy to step out from the backline and explore possibilities going forward.
In midfield, the same could be said for the calmness and awareness of Luis Contello, an impressive figure through the middle of the park alongside Ben Thompson.
From the two games that I have witnessed so far I've noticed a strength about this current Borough squad that possibly hasn’t been there in previous seasons.
