30K-km roads, 500 bridges in 5 yrs: CM

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Friday said that the state has set a target to construct 30,000 km of roads and 500 bridges in five years.
The CM announced this while reviewing various programmes of the Rural Development department at Lok Seva Bhavan here. In the meeting, Majhi stated that it is the responsibility of the department to ensure all rural areas of the state are connected with all-weather roads.
He emphasised the optimal utilisation of funds received under various schemes to provide improved transportation facilities to the people. Majhi also directed that special attention be paid to the quality and maintenance of roads and bridges. The CM directed the authorities to take strict action against contractors and officials responsible for substandard work.
