NOTTINGHAM Panthers were beaten 2-1 at home by Coventry Blaze after a shootout on Saturday night in the Elite League.
Matt Marcinew missed out through injury while Johnny Curran and Josh Tetlow were on international duty with Great Britain at the European Cup of Nations in Edinburgh.
Mitch Fossier played his first home game for two months after returning from injury in Friday night's 4-1 victory on the road against Glasgow Clan.
Jason Grande started between the pipes with Luca Sheldon as backup.
There were no goals in an entertaining end-to-end first period with Panthers going close through Matt Alfaro and Chase Pearson.
Grande made good saves to deny Grayson Constable and Grant Mismash, while Panthers killed off over a minute of a five-on-three powerplay to the Blaze.
