NEW MOVE IS FLAW IN GOVERNMENT PLANS TO HELP PUBS
IT looks like the government has finally begun to recognise the need to take action and support our local pubs.
These institutions are the beating heart of our communities, and whether it’s catching up over a pint, dropping in for some food, or meeting up with friends and family for a special occasion, pubs play a huge role in bringing people together.
As editor of Nottinghamshire Live and the Nottingham Post, I understand what it can feel like to work in a challenging industry - and I know pubs are facing battles like local media publications.
The government's Licensing Taskforce was set up to review the Licensing Act 2003, which applies to England and Wales. This taskforce came up with 10 proposals to support the hospitality sector, including one to remove the statutory requirement for alcohol licensing notices to be advertised in print local papers, like the Nottingham Post.
