MORE THAN 100 EMPLOYEES WERE MADE REDUNDANT BY SUDDEN CLOSURE OF NOTTINGHAM BELFRY

- By RUCSANDRA MOLDOVEANU

A FORMER employee of a Nottingham hotel that closed suddenly after the company entered administration said staff were given just five minutes to pack up and leave.

The Nottingham Belfry Hotel and Spa on Mellors Way, Strelley, ceased trading on Tuesday last week, with the business making 106 employees, “from cleaners to maintenance”, redundant.

Ian Corfield and Anthony Simmons of FRP Advisory were appointed as joint administrators of Delta Nottingham Hotel Limited, which traded as the Nottingham Belfry Hotel and Spa, on January 7.

The business is understood to have experienced financial difficulties in recent months, reflecting ongoing trading pressures across the hospitality sector alongside rising operating costs.

Following the appointment, the hotel continued to trade while the joint administrators undertook a period of marketing and engaged with interested parties to explore the sale of the business.
