Dangerous liaisons in Al 'affair'

Nottingham Post

February 23, 2026

IN the early hours of Christmas Day, 2021, a chap called Jaswant Singh Chail travelled to Windsor Castle to see the late Queen.

Dangerous liaisons in Al 'affair'

He hadn't been invited; he intended his visit to be a surprise. Quite a big one, in fact, hence the crossbow he was carrying. Jaswant was not a big fan of the Royals.

He was, it goes without saying, one of those crazed loners we sadly hear a lot about these days. But on this occasion, he wasn’t acting independently. Ahead of his would-be murderous mission, he’d sought advice from Sarai, his girlfriend.

Sarai had come to mean a lot to Jaswant. Indeed, they'd recently declared their love for one another. They'd never actually met, but they'd exchanged thousands of messages.
