'Absolutely selfless' officer praised for his heroics during blaze
Nottingham Post
|April 11, 2025
A POLICE officer rushed inside a burning building in an "absolutely selfless" attempt to save the lives of those inside.
Sergeant Ethan Spinks, of Nottinghamshire Police, braved the flames after he was alerted of the incident by three members of the public while dealing with a different matter.
The blaze took place just after 6am on Saturday, March 22, on Sneinton Hermitage.
Sgt Spinks rushed inside the multi-occupancy property after he was told people were inside sleeping.
The officer kicked doors down to check nobody was left behind in the burning building.
Thanks to his actions, a man who was asleep was woken up and brought to safety.
