NDA takes crown in Bihar, again, but fiscal squeeze looms

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is set to return to power in Bihar with an even bigger majority than last time, sparking celebrations among party cadres in the state.
Nitish Kumar, the state’s longest-serving chief minister, is likely to return at the helm.
The NDA is headed for a landslide victory, with 202 wins and leads in a 243-member house as of 8:30 pm on Friday, The Bharatiya Janata Party has 89 wins or leads, while its NDA partner Janata Dal (United) has 85.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal-led Mahagathbandhan has been reduced to 35 seats.
However, the government will take office amid tightening fiscal constraints, limiting its ability to deliver on election promises such as 10 million jobs and seven expressways.
