How to ensure your retirement corpus does not run out early

I plan to retire in October 2027 with a ₹1.5 crore corpus across mutual funds, ULIPs, stocks, debt, FDs and gold, a ₹14 lakh home loan over seven years, monthly expenses of ₹90,000, and ₹18 lakh health cover each for my spouse and me, but no term insurance.
How can I ensure my retirement corpus lasts?-Name withheld on request
Retirement is often ignored, but you did well to build a reasonable corpus. But, once regular income stops, the margin for error narrows, and retirement planning demands far greater care and precision.
Based on assumptions of 5% inflation, 10% annual returns, your current corpus appears inadequate. With all life expectancy of 85, it may last around 18 years, versus the required 25 years. Given uncertainties around longevity and unexpected expenses, you must cut post-retirement expense by 20% to create a safety buffer.
