Jesus is occupied with two healing sessions in one day. The one conducted in the morning happens within the family circle. Jesus frees Simon's mother-in-law from a severe fever. Her immediate response is to gratefully serve Jesus and his group.

The other healing miracle happens after sunset and involves almost the entire population of Capernaum. People have flocked to the house of Simon's mother-in-law en masse

Many have brought their sick relatives and even those afflicted by evil spirits. Jesus gives everyone his complete and undivided attention and care by gently laying hands on each of them. Simon's mother-in-law, thankful and appreciative for her own healing, must have been instrumental in putting order in the entire activity.
