PRAISE FOR RESCUE CREWS AS LORRY PLUNGES FROM M-WAY
EMERGENCY workers have praised after a complex operation to rescue a driver whose lorry plummeted 60 feet down a motorway embankment in driving rain and darkness.
Pictures were released yesterday showing the true extent of the damage caused to the HGV after it smashed through barriers on the M6, near the Thelwall Viaduct, on Monday.
The 56-year-old driver of the FedEx lorry escaped with minor injuries.
Firefighters used ropes and other specialist equipment to lower themselves down the embankment to rescue the stricken driver, as the cab lay twisted among trees and foliage.
