Sir Jim made good first impression on Reds coach Benni

BENNI McCarthy admitted he was surprised when Sir Jim Ratcliffe knew him by name during a private chat at United's training ground.

McCarthy, who has worked as an attacking coach for the Reds, is coming to the end of his contract at Old Trafford this summer.

Invited to speak about his experiences at United on South African radio station 947 Joburg earlier this week, he spoke highly of Ratcliffe.

During the interview, he recalled an instance when he was taken aback by the Ineos billionaire's familiarity with the staff members' names.
