'Blood-curdling' screams heard as attack victim seriously injured

A forensics tent at the scene in Droylsden

(SEAN HANSFORD)

SHOCKED locals living close to where a man was attacked and left seriously injured have described hearing 'bloodcurdling' screams after he was set upon.

The man, in his 30s, is believed to have been attacked by several people carrying weapons on Greenside Crescent in Droylsden, Tameside, at around 6pm on Friday.

The street remained cordoned off yesterday with a blue forensic tent having been erected inside.

Nearby residents said officers had been searching the surrounding area and going door-to-door as they tried to piece together what happened.

The nature of the weapons have not been disclosed but the Manchester Evening News understands the man wasn’t stabbed.

Greater Manchester Police say they are trying to ‘establish the motivation’ for the assault.

People living nearby have spoken of their horror at the attack.
