MIMI Xu is already relishing a return to Wimbledon after a narrow defeat in the semifinals of the girls' singles

- writes James Reid, of Sportsbeat.

"I'll return to Wimbledon in even better shape"...

The 17-year-old former Loughborough-based star, lost 6-2 6-7 6-4 to sixth seed Julietta Pareja in a hard-fought battle that lasted two-and-a-half hours in sweltering conditions.

A run to the last four marks Xu's best-ever result at Junior Wimbledon in her final appearance, and the Swansea native cannot wait to come back in a year's time with another 12 months of progression under her belt.

"The happiest thing I could think of is that I have played so well to get to the semis," she said.

"I really let myself play and be free to enjoy my last junior Wimbledon.
