Dual carbon goals serve as guiding force for building Beautiful China: experts

Driven by its "dual carbon" goals, China will step up efforts to cut carbon emissions, reduce pollution, pursue green development, and boost economic growth so as to build a Beautiful China featuring harmony between humanity and nature during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), experts said.

China aims to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. To the end, China will, by 2035, reduce economy-wide net greenhouse gas emissions by 7 to 10 percent from peak levels as part of its new nationally determined contributions (NDCs).
The "Beautiful China Initiative 2035" is a strategic plan for China to improve ecological quality and achieve significant green development by 2035. Key goals include improving air and water quality, increasing forest coverage, reducing carbon emissions, and fostering a green economy through technological innovation and improved environmental governance.
