Ale and hearty! Five Welsh pubs make list of UK's best

FIVE Welsh pubs have been named among the best in the UK in the Good Food Guide's first-ever list of 100 Best Pubs in Britain.

Inn At The Sticks FREEHOUSE

The list sees Carmarthenshire’s much-lauded Inn at the Sticks land in the top 10, at number nine, while Felin Fach Griffin, just outside Brecon, is the next-highest entry.

Sister pubs Cardiff's Heathcock and Aberthin’s Hare & Hounds claim a spot in the top 100, while the Welsh list is rounded out by Pontypridd’s The Bunch of Grapes.

The Good Food Guide's list celebrates what they call the “nation’s thriving appetite for genuine pubs with proper food and proper beer - and the growing number of venues that are delivering it” - despite recent reports that the country could lose up to one pub per day, according to the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA), the industry body representing more than 20,000 pubs.
