Former MP said attack came after 'six or seven pints'

SHAMED former MP Mike Amesbury blamed the street assault that lost him his job on “six or seven pints” on an empty stomach.
The former Runcorn & Helsby MP told Good Morning Britain yesterday that he lashed out and punched a constituent after drinking “probably about six or seven pints” in three pubs after a busy Friday at work.
Amesbury pleaded guilty earlier this year to assaulting constituent Paul Fellows, 45, after a row in the street in Frodsham, Cheshire in the early hours of October 26, 2024. He was given a 10-week prison sentence which was suspended on appeal after he spent three days in HMP Altcourse.
He told GMB: “I’m a living visual example of the consequences of using violence, of seeing red in those moments of madness. There for the grace of gods, that Mr Fellows didn’t bang his head on the floor and kill (himself).
