Defoe puts his shirt on Ekitike to lead the line

And the former England striker has called for the France international to lead the line over Alexander Isak at Anfield.

Ekitike is the Reds' top scorer so far this term with five goals in all competitions since his summer move from Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 23-year-old joined the Premier League champions in July in a deal that could be worth up to £79m and having watched him closely since he moved from the Bundesliga, Defoe has revealed how much of a mark he has made in his early weeks in the Premier League.
