Lions stun league leaders despite absence of Becker
Leicester Mercury
|June 11, 2025
LEICESTER Lions became only the second team this season to beat Premiership table-toppers Sheffield Tigers after securing a 56-34 home win
Lions’ victory on Monday was even more remarkable considering it was achieved without Luke Becker.
The highly-rated American rider had crashed while racing in Poland 24 hours earlier and was ruled out of the team with back injuries.
While Becker's absence was deeply felt, the Lions responded to the challenge and opened in such devastating form that Sheffield were left reeling by their powerful start.
After seven races Leicester were ahead by 16 points and the intensity continued into the second half of the match.
