|April 28, 2025
ELEVEN people were killed when a car was driven into revellers at a street festival celebrating Filipino culture in the Canadian city of Vancouver, local police have said.
-
The vehicle entered the street where the Lapu Lapu Day festival was taking place just before 8.15pm local time on Saturday. Several other people were injured, but the exact number of casualties was not yet known yesterday.
A 30-year-old Vancouver man was arrested at the scene and the local police department’s Major Crime Section is overseeing the investigation. Police said yesterday they were “confident that this incident was not an act of terrorism’.
