COUNTY LIFTS ENGLISH TITLE FOR FIRST TIME IN ITS 100-YEAR HISTORY

LEICESTERSHIRE and Rutland county golfers have been crowned English champions for the first time in their long history, writes Jennifer Prentice.
They lifted the title at the three-day England final at St Enodoc GC in Cornwall, winning all their three matches.
They beat Gloucestershire 5-4 on the opening day, won 6-3 against Kent on day two, and were 5-4 victors against Lancashire as the Championship reached a climax on day three.
