'Exceptional' Colts clinch the double in final game together

ASHTEAD Colts Under-18 Rovers made it a double as they added the league to their cup victory of earlier in the season.

The team clinched the title with a 1-0 win over Caterham who had chased them hard all year, only dropping points in the final few games.

In the end Ashtead won the Epsom and Ewell League by six points after winning 14 games, drawing one and losing one.

The Caterham game, which was won with a goal by Mihai Cidu, also marked the end of the team’s time together - having first started as Under-sevens in 2013.

Delighted manager Lee Cordery said: “It’s been an exceptional season, and the boys have really played well all year.

“A league and cup double is no small achievement and the boys deserve all the credit for putting in some exceptional performances.

“Winning the cup was a really special. As we beat three teams on the way to the final who are in the league above us.”
