CUP FINAL CHANCE MISSED AFTER BRUNEL FLY AFTER THE BREAK

COBHAM Rugby Club's season ended on Saturday as they missed out on a spot in the final of the Counties One Championship section of the Papa John's Community Cup.

Brunel University dominated the Counties One Herts & Middlesex league this season, winning 20 out of 22 matches, scoring 1,085 points and running in 20 try bonus points.

The previous week they defeated Pirates Amateur, the league leaders from Counties One Tribute Western West, to reach the semi-finals.

Cobham, having defeated Surrey/Sussex League winners Twickenham, on their way to the last four were competing at the highest level and that was apparent in the first five minutes of the game as they pressured Brunel deep in their half.

A penalty advantage saw Rory Penfold come close to breaking the line, before Connor Dellapina was able to slot over three points from the original penalty to put Cobham in front.

It was clear that Brunel were going to be a force to be reckoned with when their prop Akspesiri Erhawah powered over for a try that Jack Thorn converted; 7-3.
