New proposals could see teens barred from kids' playgrounds
Lancashire Evening Post
|January 26, 2026
The laws governing parks and public spaces in South Ribble could soon be changing - and it might mean over-14s are banned from children's playgrounds.
South Ribble Borough Council (SRBC) says the current set of rules governing their parks and public spaces are from 1988 and are now outdated. A new set of proposals has been drawn up, and residents have until the end of the month to share their thoughts.
One of the proposals is to that “no person aged 14 years or over shall enter or remain in a children's play area unless in charge of a child under the age of 14”.
