PROLIFIC trainer Liam Dowling has never won the Irish Greyhound Laurels but 2025 offers his best opportunity yet.

Setanta to end Dowling's wait for Cork glory

Dowling is responsible for half of the final field in the Bar One Racing sponsored classic, which concludes at Curraheen Park tonight.

Star of the event has been his Ballymac Setanta, who is now the sole unbeaten finalist following another stunning performance at semifinal stage. Registering his third sub 28.00 spin for the 525-yards, he contained Magical On Fire in a three-length verdict, posting 27.99.

Dowling could not have wished for a better scenario while seeking a maiden victory in the Cork classic as his trio of finalists have drawn the inside traps, with arguably their biggest threat, Magical On Fire, worst off in trap four.

Such is the significance of the rails pitch in this early paced showdown, Ballymac Setanta will most likely not hold the favourite mantle and topping the market this week has been kennel companion Solo And Go.
